Thulium laser 1927 nm in the beauty industry

The 1927nm laser mainly uses thermal coagulation rather than stripping and vaporization technology, and is a safer infrared laser.

Operational principle

Thulium laser (1927nm) is an infrared laser that primarily targets water in the skin. The dermis contains more water than the epidermis, which has relatively lower moisture content. This structure prevents thermal damage during treatment, avoiding edema or injury. The laser also eliminates stinging, burning, or tissue damage.

The fractional mode at 1927nm features a fractional handpiece that focuses the laser onto a small spot (approximately 0.1-0.15mm in diameter), delivering non-ablative or micro-ablative effects on the skin. It is primarily used for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction.

After processing, melanin is broken down by heat and gradually expelled from the skin's surface. It is then engulfed and metabolized by macrophages within the body. This process penetrates deep into the dermis, mildly stimulating the papillary dermis. This not only accelerates collagen synthesis but also stimulates cell division.

Main beauty application scenarios

· Skin Resurfacing:

Addresses enlarged pores, acne scars and marks by precisely exfoliating dead skin cells to stimulate collagen regeneration in the dermis. Recovery period is just 3-7 days, offering a gentler alternative to traditional ablative lasers.

· Pigment improvement:

Targeted at sunspots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, it precisely acts on pigment particles while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues, ideal for sensitive skin.Skin tone or dark skin.

·Anti-aging and firming:

Deeply heats the dermis to stimulate collagen contraction and regeneration, effectively reducing fine lines around the eyes, nasolabial folds, and mild facial sagging.

Core benefits

· High water absorption efficiency, energy concentrated in the superficial and middle layers of the skin, precise treatment and few side effects.

·Strong compatibility, suitable for dry sensitive skin, oily acne skin and other skin types, and can be combined with other projects (such as photo rejuvenation) to enhance the effect.

What is the core difference between  1927nm thulium laser and CO2 fractional laser ?

The 1927nm Thulium laser is a 'non-ablative, gentle, and all-in-one' treatment (combining skin rejuvenation, anti-aging, and mild repair), while the fractional laser is a 'strong, ablative/non-ablative repair' (targeting severe imperfections). The fundamental difference lies in the energy's target and whether it damages the epidermis.

Four core differences

1. Core role targets and wavelengths

·1927nm Thulium laser:With wavelength matching skin moisture, targets the superficial to mid-dermis layer, not targeting pigmentation, focusing on collagen regeneration.

·CO2 fracitonal laser (10600nm CO2): The CO2 fractional laser targets the epidermis.

2. Epidermal Damage and Ablation Properties

·1927nm Thulium Laser: Completely non-ablative, preserves the epidermal barrier, leaves no open wounds or scabs, with only mild redness.

·Fractional Laser: Ablative types (CO₂) damage the epidermis, causing micro-wounds and scabbing.

3. Treatment Intensity and Recovery Period

· 1927nm Thulium Laser: Gentle with minimal discomfort, recovery period 1-3 days (redness only), suitable for those sensitive to stimulation.

·Fractional Laser: Ablative type – potent with significant discomfort, recovery period 7-14 days (scabbing and peeling); non-ablative type – moderate discomfort, recovery period 3-5 days.

4. Core Applications

·1927nm Thulium Laser: Enlarged pores, dry lines/fine wrinkles, mild acne scars, dull complexion. Suitable for sensitive skin and those avoiding recovery periods.

·Fractional Laser: Ablative type for severe acne scars, significant laxity, deep wrinkles; non-ablative type for moderate laxity, shallow acne scars.

Thulium laser 1927nm suitable for skin types

The 1927nm laser delivers gentle non-ablation with skin-friendly properties, making it suitable for most skin types—particularly those sensitive to irritation or seeking mild skin improvement.

Best for skin type and people

·Sensitive skin/barrier-damaged skin: Non-irritating formula that doesn't damage the epidermis. Causes only mild redness after treatment, won't worsen sensitivity, dryness, or stinging, and can be used through stinging Strengthen collagen barrier.

·Dry/Natural Skin: Reduces enlarged pores and fine lines without dehydrating. When used with post-surgery moisturizers, it enhances skin hydration.

· Oily/Combination Skin: Gently exfoliatells, reduces sebum production, and improves pore congestion without causing inflammation or breakouts due ts dead skin ceo excessive treatment intensity.

·Darker skin types (Fitzpatrick IV-V): Energy is precisely targeted at the dermis, minimising impact on epidermal pigmentation and reducing the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, making it safer than ablative lasers.
